Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Chalet Labs, Inc. handles personal information when you use our website, engage us to manage a property, rent a home from us, or apply for a tenancy.
Information we collect
- Owner information. Name, contact details, ownership and entity details, insurance and payment information.
- Resident information. Name, contact details, lease terms, payment records and maintenance history.
- Applicant information. Identity, income documentation, references and the results of credit and background screening conducted with consent.
- Showing records. Who requested a viewing, which host attended, and entry and exit times recorded at the property.
- Technical information. IP address, browser and device type, collected to operate and secure the website and platform.
How we use it
- To manage property, collect rent, coordinate maintenance and report to owners.
- To assess tenancy applications against published criteria.
- To schedule showings and dispatch hosts, and to maintain a record of access to the property.
- To meet legal obligations, including those under California landlord–tenant law.
- To respond to enquiries and provide support.
Screening and fair housing
Applicant screening is carried out with the applicant's consent through a screening provider. The criteria applied are written down and applied to every applicant in the same way. We do not use protected characteristics in tenancy decisions. See our fair housing statement.
Sharing
We share information with the property owner (as the principal on whose behalf we manage), with vendors and service providers who help operate the property, with screening and payment providers, and with authorities where the law requires. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
Lease, payment and maintenance records are retained for the period the law requires and as long as necessary for the management relationship. Showing and access records are retained so that entry to a property can be accounted for. Applicant records for unsuccessful applications are retained only as long as needed for the decision and any legal requirement, then deleted.
Security
We use access controls, encryption in transit, and least-privilege access to the platform. Property access credentials are issued per showing window and withdrawn afterwards.
Your rights
California residents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and may ask what categories of information we hold and to whom it has been disclosed. Write to privacy@chaletlabs.com and we will respond within the period California law allows.
Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies necessary to operate it. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
